IHMS Remote Learning Days
Dear Patrons of Indian Hills Middle School,
This Friday (11.5.21) will be our first Friday Remote Learning Day. This is a homebased learning day and students will not be coming into the school (see previous message and sample schedule sent on 10.24.21). In preparation, the school will be distributing breakfast and lunch items to those who would like to place an order. These items will be distributed at the end of the day on Thursday to those who place an order. To order a bagged meal, please use this link https://forms.gle/H62NkiA3iYFTyxVk6 and enter the student’s name. You must be logged into the students csddocs account to place an order. All orders must be received by 10:00 am Wednesday morning.
Thank you,
Doug Graham
Principal

Dec. 3, 2021
Jan. 7, 2022
Feb. 11, 2022
March 25, 2022
April 22, 2022
On the remote-learning days, students will engage in class assignments and learning through Canvas.
What is Remote Learning Friday?
Friday is a day of learning. Teachers are expected to have assigned learning tasks for students to complete on Friday or over the weekend. Assignments will be given for each class and should be completed for credit. We suggest working together with your child and setting a Friday schedule. Setting schedules and daily routines can be extremely helpful in completing assigned learning tasks efficiently. Below is a sample student schedule that could be used (or modified) to help your children get the most out of each Remote-Learning Friday. This is a sample schedule, and could be modified for your needs.
9:00 -11:00 | Get support from individual teacher |
9:00 | ELA |
9:30 | Elective A |
10:00 | Math |
10:30 | Break/Stretch/Snack |
10:45 | Science |
11:15 | Elective B |
11:45 | Lunch |
12:15 | Social Studies |
12:45 | Elective C |
Students are expected to check in to each class’s Canvas course, review any announcements, and complete the assigned learning tasks.
All Classes will be posting learning tasks/assignments that are expected to take students 20-30 minutes to complete.
Communication: All classes will use Canvas. This is not a new platform for students. Students are already using Canvas daily in most of their classes. Information about the assigned Friday learning tasks will be posted in individual Canvas courses. Teachers will also review this structure with their classes in the week prior to the Remote Learning Day. Just a reminder that Skyward reflects the official student grade, not Canvas.
Teacher Office Hours on Friday: All teachers will have office hours on Fridays from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. During teacher office hours, teachers will be communicating with students and parents and supporting the learning of students through phone calls, emails, and/or Zoom.
