Calling All Young Writers!
We have exciting news for students and educators! Governor Cox just signed a declaration naming March Utah Teen Literacy Month. (See attached declaration.) To celebrate, Operation Literacy has created a free writing contest to let you showcase all your unique self and the writing you’ve done this year!
The contest is open to teens in grades 7-12. To make it easy for you to show your best writing, you may submit a 1-page, 300-word maximum, writing sample on any topic in five categories: poetry, persuasive, narrative, exposition, and graphic novel.
We can’t wait to celebrate your writing! Entries will be judged by Operation Literacy with support from local university partnerships. The entry deadline is March 31st and one winner from each category will be announced on Monday, April 20, 2024. Each winner will receive a mega book bundle plus lunch with #1 New York Times bestselling author, Jennifer A. Nielsen, the Utah Ambassador for Young People’s Literature.
