  • School Updates
    • Ms. Karren is excited to be back for a second year here at IHMS.
    • We had a teacher resign the week before, but we are excited about our new hire who will start next week.
    • Ms. Karren went over our MTSS framework that we are focusing on this year.
    • We got a lot of positive feedback about our new school wide disclosure.
  • PTSA Updates
    • We did our teacher breakfast, and it went well!
    • Sign-ups have gone out for various volunteer opportunities.
    • We will also feed the teachers for parent/teacher conferences.
    • We have less than 200 PTA members, which is less than last year.  We will continue to advertise.
  • Counseling Center Updates
    • Mrs. Van De Graaff is new to us.  She is replacing Mrs. Wolfe who retired.
    • Counselors have already taught all students a lesson about who their counselor is and how to access the student center
    • They have also taught lessons on learning styles and friendship and conflict resolution
    • Counselors try to be visible as much as possible (i.e. in the lunchroom and hallways)
    • Data project this year is the Wellness room, which is new this year!  We also have a Wellness closet in the Wellness room.  Students get 5 to 15 minutes to regulate.
      • We have had 6 students in this week and reported feeling calmer after they left the room.
  • Other items: Parent Teacher Conferences, cell phone policy
    • We have seen a lot of students following this new policy.  Ms. Shaw reported that students have been respectful and asking to use the phone before pulling a phone out.  Parents mentioned that students in their carpool have also been positive about the new policy.
    • Ms. Karren explained how we have done Parent/teacher conferences and asked for feedback from our SCC.
