StoryCon is the ultimate experience for writers, educators, screenwriters, gamers, and creatives of all ages, combining the fun of a national book festival with the education and guidance of a serious writing conference. In the past the conference was called “Teen Author Boot Camp,” but this year the name changed to “Story Con” and the experience is bigger and better than ever. It will be held at the Salt Palace on February 21 and 22.
Story Con is a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with current young adult authors and learn writing skills directly from those who are very successful at doing it as their full time jobs. The cost of the conference is $159 if you pay for it on your own, but Indian Hills Middle School is offering 10 scholarships for 7th and 8th grade students who would like to attend the conference. Students can pick up scholarship applications from Miss McGowan in the library or from Mr. Pulsifer. Students do NOT have to be a creative writing class to attend, they just need the desire to meet with authors and have a great time learning! Applications are due on January 31st at the end of the school day.
