Each year, all Canyons School District middle school students are invited to compete in a reading trivia challenge called Book Blitz. Students who choose to participate are challenged to read novels out of a list of 20 titles with a team of students. The list includes the same 20 titles for all middle school students in our district. Each student has the goal of remembering information about each novel’s setting, characters, plot, and meaning for the titles that they have read. Working as a team, students are challenged with questions about each book. Each team earns a score based on how many questions they answer correctly. After each middle school’s Book Blitz competition, the school’s highest-scoring first and second place teams advance to the district level. This year, IHMS’s highest scoring teams earned 111 points (Banana Splits) and 100 points (The Book Nerds)! They really knew their books!
