Weekly Newsletter March 25

March 25, 2024

Dear Indian Hills Middle School Community:

This week marks the final quarter of the school year. A new quarter gives students a fresh start in terms of grades and attendance. At this time of year when the weather warms, the buds blossom, and student energy begins to crescendo, we want to encourage students to continue to attend class on time and to positively engage in their classes. We also want to encourage positive behavior with attendance and our PBIS rewards. Thank you!

3rd Quarter Grades : A reminder that the 3rd quarter grades will be finalized prior to spring break. Today, Monday, March 25th is a no student day to allow teachers to complete grades for the term.

Congratulations to our Intramural Basketball Teams & our debaters! Our 8th grade girls’ team took first place and our 6th grade boys’ team took 2nd place at the tournament last week. We also had two buses of students participate in a district debate tournament last week as well, and we are awaiting the results. Way to go teams!

PTSA Announcements: Memory Book Reminders: This is a friendly reminder that the last day to preorder Memory Books is Thursday, March 28th. Books can be purchased through Skyward under the “Fee” section. There will be a limited supply for purchase on the day we hand out Memory Books. Thank You!

We have our next school spirit night coming up on Thursday, March 28th at Swig. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to our school!. Just mention Indian Hills Middle school as you head through the Drive Thru, and they will register the donation.

Congratulations to our new PTSA Board members for 2024-25. Join us on Monday, April 8th at 9:00 am in the Warrior Room as we vote in our new PTSA Board for the next school year! We are still looking for the following positions: President Elect, Reflections, and Volunteer Coordinator. Please reach out to Lisa Kendrick (indianihillsptsa@gmail.com) if you are interested.

 March Library Events:

March Madness Book Tournament: We are down to the final four books this week. Have you read any of them? Holes by Louis Sacher is going up against Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han is going up against Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Students can vote through Monday and then our last week will see the battle between the final two. Remember that students may submit the staff selection portion of the slides until March 29. Both the bracket competition and staff selection competition winners will receive a $40 Amazon shopping spree! We hope this encourages students to find and read some books they have never read before!

Book Blitz: Thursday, March 28 will be our school Book Blitz competition during 2nd &

3rd periods. Good luck to the six teams competing. The top two teams will advance to the district round on April 10th. We are still in need of four more volunteers to help judge on Thursday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. If you are available, please sign up below.

Digital Literacy for March: According to 2022 research by the Pew Research Center, Teen girls are more likely than teen boys to say social media has made them feel overwhelmed by drama, excluded by friends or worse about their life.
