Agenda:
- Welcome & Approve November Minutes
- Ms. Karren welcomed Samantha Bilbow, an administrative intern who will be with us this semester.
- Karlie moved to approve the minutes, Lisa seconded.
- Student Center/Counseling Center Update
- Counselors have been finishing up individual PCCR meetings with all 8th graders. 8th graders will be picking classes for HS later this month.
- Counselors have been finishing up course cards for next year.
- They are teaching College and Career lessons this month in the classrooms.
- We are going to start getting our 5th graders excited to come to 6th grade. We have the orientation and the 5th grade visit this month.
- We are not doing schedule changes if students were given their top 5 elective choices. We do schedule changes for IEPs, support classes, 504s, etc.
- Katie gave the feedback that she loved being able to come in and meet in person instead of the virtual option.
- Susie will take that feedback back to the team.
- Ms. Karren updated the SCC on some of the things we are looking at for class schedules next year. (FCS 6 being added back, a shared instrumental music teacher with Alta to help provide more classes without burning Mr. Cox out)
- PTSA Updates
- Smoothie orders are happening this Thursday for staff
- Spirit day is dress up like your favorite movie or book character
- Friday is a virtual capital day for adults who are interested to learn how you can be part of all the legislative things that will be coming up
- We are looking for a lot of positions for PTSA next year
- Spirit night at Cane’s at the end of this month
- TSI (Targeted Support & Improvement) Review
- Ms. Karren went over how schools are identified as needing targeted support and improvement. We are TSI for Students with Disabilities and Multi Language Learners.
- Katie mentioned messaging to parents and how we need to make sure all parents are informed about the purpose of the testing.
- Ms. Karren handed out the data formerly tied to a school grade. Indian Hills received a “C” for last year. We did really well in growth. An area of concern continues to be our support for our ML population.
- We looked at math inventory and reading inventory data for our students with disabilities and our multi language learners.
- We are providing QTEL training to a group of our teachers to provide some of those Tier 1 strategies that will support these students.
- Land Trust/TSSP: Initial look at next year’s planning
- Ms. Karren went over the visual that includes our TSSP goals
- SCC talked about our School Climate goal and our PBIS system and its effectiveness
- Letter from Governor Cox
- Ms. Karren talked about the letter and how it talked about cell phone use in school. He is encouraging us to limit/eliminate cell phone use in schools.
- We would like the SCC to think about it and elicit feedback from the community and come back and talk about it
